A value stream provides an end-to-end view of delivering value to the customer. A value stream is a specific journey and includes all activities needed (from multiple IT processes) to respond to a particular type of demand and to create value in the form of products and services for the customer. For example, Our Software Development Value Streams include all steps related to software development, including activities from processes such as requirements development, solution architecture, planning, designing, building, testing, and release to deploying working software into the production environment.
Conversely, a process is a specific set of activities designed to achieve a particular outcome. The outcome of the requirements development process is the business requirements document. The IT Process Template is a document that includes the process flow and process description. The IT Process Template also describes the process purpose and scope, business value, roles and responsibilities, KPIs, critical success factors, etc.
Our content experts have designed and developed four IT Value Stream documents across the IT operating model and 25 individual ITIL encapsulated process templates.
